Psh. Who needs canned cream of mushroom soup? Not this girl! At least, not anymore. I found a soup recipe I really wanted to try out of my trusty Taste of Home Winning Recipes cookbook. I know, y'all are sick of hearing about that cookbook. Well, it's the best. I can't help it.

Well, said soup called for two cans of cream of mushroom soup. I only had one. I had remembered seeing someone's pin on Pinterest about how to make your own "cream of anything" soup. So, I googled it. You can find the exact recipe here. But I tweaked it a little bit. I decided to save that can of Campbell's for the apocalypse and make my own for now.

The soup I had planned to make was Meatball Mushroom Soup. I'll share that recipe after Mister tastes it and approves :) Anyways... the point is, I already had a boatload of mushrooms... enough to make the homemade cream of mushroom soup.

I cut my mushrooms into big chunks so they would chop up easier in the blender.

The recipe says to blend your liquid and powder ingredients first. I didn't include the onion powder since I used a half of a "real" onion.

After blending the first ingredients as it says, I added my chunks of mushroom and onion and blended it all together. It ended up looking something like this:

Hello, off-centered picture. Oops. Stinky picture aside, you can see it looks exactly as it should! Since I was using it right away, I skipped the microwave part and just put it in my dutch oven to begin making my soup.

What about you? Ever tried a homemade "cream of anything soup?" I'd love to hear about it!
